So it's Wednesday night, you're hungry, but have been avoiding the grocery store since the news has been all over the rising food prices.  What to do?  Sashay your way over to Dancing Wasabi in Mt. Lookout Square for half price sushi!

A plethora of all things sushi await you and your dining companions in this busy  and energetic restaurant.  It's pleasantly, dimly-lit and the tables are packed into the place, but there's sushi specials every Wednesday evening.  You can also sit at the bar while you wait for the table and watch the chef work his magic with nori and the bamboo mat.

nvision1.jpgWhat can you find at NVISION? A better question might be: what can't you find? The wares run the gamut from vintage to locally-designed, from clothing for men, women, and babies to home decor and all points in between. The best part? NVISION is having a massive sidewalk sale this weekend, 12-13 July!
After a couple month hiatus, Enzo's, the OTR coffeehouse/lunch spot is back up and running.  The menu looks very similar to the old one (mmmm....paninis), but still no evening hours: 7:00am to 2:00pm.  We assume that, like before, Enzo's will stay closed on the weekends, but we hope they decide to experiment with, at least, Sunday brunch.

IMG_8440_021207.jpgSomeday if you find yourself hungry in Mason don't give in to the familiar and stop at one of the many chain restaurants; take a chance on The Polo Grille.  The spacious dining area is accented by a large, elegant bar that displays a wide variety of liquor, wine and beer.  Not a drinker?  Don't worry, the food is superb.

Grammer's just got cooler. Ryan Breen (general manager) informed us that they had a new air conditioning unit installed this past Saturday. This is big news for fans of the bar, who have braved quite a June packed into the bar's main rooms. Stop by Grammer's for any of their upcoming events and enjoy this luxury.
f_justcured_phf12-300x168.jpgEvery month, our good friends at Cincinnati Locavore visit BuyCincy to give us the latest on locally-produced foods in the Greater Cincinnati area. Good eatings!

When I passed Michael Brown sampling his Just Cured salmon across from Luken's Fish, Poultry & Seafood at Findlay Market last month, I backed up to grab a sample. After I tasted it I wanted to grab a second, but that seemed greedy. So instead I introduced myself.

Michael, who lives in Western Hills even though neither he nor his wife grew up on the West Side, is curing some of the best salmon I've ever tasted onsite at Findlay Market in a sparkling clean custom-built smoke room across the street from the Lukens stand. It's a dream of his and his wife's, both lifelong foodies, to build a long-time hobby into a second career. When he recently left a big local law firm, they decided the time was right to see if his recipe for handcrafted salmon had legs.

I caught up with him one day while he dry-cured 25 pounds of his wonderful European-style cold-smoked salmon.

Shout_Alternative_Motive.jpgAlternative Motive announced that it will be premiering its new line of Cincinnati tees, titled "Who's your Nati?" at the July 18th T-Shirt Fest on Fountain Square. If these shirts are as popular as their predecessors, you'd better act quick to get your own. And, of course, they're darn cool.
Rohs1.jpgThe Rohs name is all over Cincinnati, but there are two things you might not know. First, it's pronounced "Russ," not "Rose." Second, and more importantly, you can still buy from the Cincinnati family's hardware store on Vine.

Brian Neumann and Fred Arrowood hosted a fabulous Final Friday cocktail party that coincided with their exhibition by local photographer Tonya Cook.  "Tonya has long been drawn to the neglected and abandoned objects in our world, and her photography reflects this," they said of her work. "Replete with forgotten vestiges and remnants, she poignantly captures the gritty and raw nuances of our past." The photos were beautiful and incredibly powerful, and the store is equally impressive. Check it out.
